Immediately following the Mayor's Panel join us at the 4th Annual "Lunch in the Garden", hosted by Mayor Bower and featuring Honored Luncheon Guest, U.S. Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen -- showcasing the culinary artisty of local women chefs, caterers and restaurateurs amid the tranquility of newly renovated Miami Beach Botanical Garden adjacent to City Hall.

The event is 12:30 to 4:00 PM. Admission is $30 in advance and $35 at the door.

The 2012 "Woman in History" Honoree is Marjory Stoneman Douglas (1890-1998)

Marjory Stoneman Douglas moved to Miami in 1915 to work at the Miami Herald. She was a journalist, author, feminist and environmentalist known for her staunch defense of the Everglades against efforts to drain it and reclaim land for development.

She was a Charter Member of the 1st ACLU Chapter in the South and a Presidential Medal of Freedom Recipient who lent her support to the ERA speaking to the legislature in Tallahassee urging them to ratify it. WE are honored to salute her and her extraordinary achievements. For more info

The Randie Hofer Scholarship Fund

Randie Hofer was a member of the Executive Committee of the Miami Beach Women's Conference from inception in 2009. She was a founding member of the Ocean Drive Association, a member of the Miami Beach Fine Arts Board, an outspoken community activist and visionary. She was also a dedicated teacher at Miami Beach Senior High School until her untimely death in October 2011. In her honor WE have created the Randie Hofer Scholarship Fund. Candidates must deliver a written essay on a woman in history who has inspired them; or a woman in their life who has guided them on the path to excellence. The winner will receive a $1000 gift card toward educational technology tools and a $500 gift card for school clothes and other necessities. The winner will be announced on March 9th at Miami Beach Senior High. For more info
